Synopsis

This documentary follows the daily lives of three families from Kenya, Indonesia and Russia and captures interactions between parents and children from the LGBT community. Parents are at a crossroad; as they want their child to grow up in an environment where they feel protected and loved regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression; however cannot openly talk about it in fear of being descriminated or facing violence due to enormous social stigmas or anti-gay laws in their country – jeopardizing their own child’s safety. Out & About is an enlightening, touching and honest portrait of how misinformation, social stigma and anti-gay laws will extend gender issues to a wide circle of people around each member of the LGBT community.
