The “Art & Justice: Abu Zubaydah” exhibition had its premiere in December 2024 in The Hague, aiming to showcase the remarkable artwork by Abu Zubaydah, a ‘forever prisoner’ in Guantanamo Bay.
His art deals with the torture he experienced during CIA detention and was exhibited alongside legal judgements that were achieved over the years. Abu Zubaydah is still arbitrary detained, meaning that he has never been charged or received a trial.
The event was a the start of a traveling exhibition in order to keep his story alive and to continue to press for #freeabuzubaydah.
This is a joint project by Human Rights in Practice and Human Rights in the Picture and was financially supported by The Nuhanovic Foundation and Redress.
